New Zealand Politics in Political time : Election '17 - WN

Registration is closed for this event

Anglosphere politics is undergoing to large degree a sustained period of disruption. The
question that Jon Johansson’s lecture will pose is whether New Zealand could also face
an electoral disturbance at the General Election, and, if so, what forms might it take? In
the lecture Johansson will offer his thoughts on the forces underlying the 2017 election
and the possible outcomes that might result.

Jon Johansson is a veteran political scientist at Victoria University’s School of History,
Philosophy, Political Science and IR. His specialties are political leadership, U.S. and
New Zealand politics, with his last two books – US Leadership in Political Space and
Time: Pathfinders, Patriots & Existential Heroes (New York: Palgrave, 2014)
and
Moments of Truth: The General Election of 2014 (co-edited with Professor Stephen
Levine; Wellington: VUP, 2015) – reflecting those interests.
