Len Cook, now on the Remuneration Authority, was a member of the Royal Commission on Social Policy - back then - and more recently Families Commissioner. He is a professional statistician who was Government Statistician for New Zealand from 1992 to 2000 and National Statistician and Director of the Office for National Statistics, United Kingdom, and Registrar General for England and Wales from 2000 to 2005.
He worked with governments in New Zealand and the UK observing the Lange and Blair reforms from inside. This experience, all with a mission of public service and support for social democratic values, gives him insights for the role of the public sector in New Zealand, Europe, Australasia and the Pacific.
What would it take to see the Public Sector fit for purpose to serve us for the next 30 years?
